The artist that has inspired me through all my life and is one of the main reasons why I decided to follow an art career is the Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki who's work depicts the beauty in the ordinary and creates amazing sceneries that
portray the same feelings I seek to interpret within my pieces.
This movies made me realize the strong impact films can have on their viewers and inspired me into creating and building art that hopefully can make other people feel a similar connection to it as these films once made me feel with them

Last semester I took my first wheel pottering class in emily carr and instantly fell in love with it, however wheel throwing is a technique that requires constant practice and skill knowledge hence why I decided to rent a book at ecu library that helped as a guide tool when I had any specific questions or wanted to learn a new technique on it. This book was with me all the time through all last term and was a great media to build and strengthen my technical skills.

"I left my memories out for too long. they grew mould", Oriana Lacaou piece is an installation that has been stuck in my head since the moment I looked at it. The first thing that catched my attention was the use of mixed media combined, in this case it being fibre art on found objects. I really like the composition of this piece as well as its aesthetics, but what kept me hooked was the representation of the idea she is dealing with in her work, how she is able to depict its message stuck with me, hence why this piece has become very dear to me and an inspiration.
Mikalojus Konstantinas is a famous Lithuanian artist that I recently discovered whose work captivated me the moment I saw his paintings, specifically talking about his technique used in colour, he has become one of my main colour pallet inspirations. Without mentioning the great world building skill he shows in his paintings.
I usually don't use youtube in my daily life but recently while doing one of my sculptural projects I realised the amazing tool it can be to gain new ideas and inspirations specifically regarding materials and building wise. It has helped me gain lots of knowledge and realise how even if I don’t know how a specific technique is done there’s probably a video that can help me with it. Furthermore, during my research I found this channel called Materials and Processes and I have been using it on my recent work as an inspiration.

Art & Fear is a scholarly book that a professor in my Foundation year introduced me to. We bought the book physically and read a couple of chapters in class, however even if we didn’t have enough time to read all the book in class I found myself very interested in it and read all of it. To this day I can say that that book has helped me gain a new perspective and a closer insight of what is being an artist; furthermore, it is one of those books that I will keep reading once in a while because there is always something new to learn from it every time you reread it.

Van Gogh: The Complete Paintings is a book that has inspired me in so many ways. I got it as a birthday gift when I was young and remember when I looked at it it showed me paintings that portrayed the world in such a different way that it amazed me. Seeing how Van Gogh depicts the world as beautiful inspired me to seek that on my own art pieces, more specifically how most of the time his paintings focus on landscapes or sceneries that seem ordinary but how he uses colour and paintbrushes he is able to transform the most boring view into a gorgeous world.
